Helpful Travel Tools

There are all kinds of applications and tools available in today's modern age to help navigate traveling around the world. Below are some of my top ones that I find useful and also have referral links that can benefit both you and I.

For learning new languages there are all kinds of apps out there. Personally I use Duolingo since it helps to gamify the process pretty well but I won't advertise too much for them since they don't have a referral process. I will say don't expect to become fluent in a language just using something like Duolingo but it can be helpful with basic vocabulary, structure, and pattern recognition. A quote from my own mother that I've taken to heart for learning a new language is that quantity is more important than quality. As such is doesn't really matter what app or tool you use what matters is that you use it and frequently.

While I think applications like Duolingo are good to get started if you want to commit to the next level than I would recommend Preply. This one does have referral link which you can use here:

Preply is an online language tutoring service. You can select from a wide variety of tutors for almost any language and schedule 50 minute sessions to practice live conversations with native speakers. This is what I recommend as a good next step after an application like Duolingo as you can learn more common and casual phrases from native speakers and you can practice live conversations which are more useful if you decide to try and converse with locals in a new country.

Aside from learning a language another useful tool is having data access wherever you go in the world. Having Google Translate and Google Maps on hand can make a world of difference when you are traveling in a foreign country so having data is important.
